Teachers are always looking for center ideas that are easy to prep, effective practice, and preferably self-correcting.
Here’s my suggestion for you:
French Colors Clip Cards
Have you ever used clip cards in your classroom?
All you need is a set of cards and something to “clip” them. Students can use clothespins, chips, dry-erase markers, and, well, paper clips.
This resource was created to get kids practicing different ways to recognize and learn the names of French colors. It improves visual discrimination and reading skills.

You can also decide not to cut the cards, but instead insert the full printed sheet into page protectors (or laminate the sheets). Then, have students circle the right answers using dry-erase markers.
You can have the students check the answers themselves and there are two ways of doing that:
- place a sticker or make a little dot “behind” the right answer. After clipping a card, students can flip it over and see if the clothespin is on the sticker/dot.
- use the answer recording sheet included in the set to have students write the answers. Then, they can check if they’ve got everything right by using the answer key provided.
