French Valentine’s Day Color by Sound
Students will be working on recognizing graphemes, i.e. the way the sounds are represented in writing.
They color a sound and all the words containing that sound the same color.
For example, the sound eau is pink in the example below, so kids need to color the word “agneau” pink because it contains the sound eau.

By following the code at the top of the page, your students will color parts of the drawing to reveal the hidden image.
I’ve included a variety of sounds, such as some r-blends, some l-blends, ou, on, oi, c dur, c doux, g dur, g doux, gn, eau, ch, ette, b, d, and many more graphemes.
There are six worksheets that are perfect for independent centers. I’ve also included answer keys, so students can check their own work.
